Match Highlights

The Group C clash at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad saw Afghanistan bundling out PNG for just 95 and chased the target with 29 balls to spare. With Afghanistan's win, New Zealand got eliminated from the tournament.

PNG looked clueless with the bat right from the start. Afghanistan pacers Naveen-Ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi wreaked havoc and put their team at the top. Kiplin Doriga (27:32b, 2x4) tried to keep this team in the hunt but couldn’t. A solid bowling performance saw PNG getting all out for just 95.

Afghanistan was off to a shaky start with the bat as they lost Ibrahim Zadran for a duck and then Rahmanullah Gurbaz fell for eleven. But after that, Gulbadin Naib (49 not out:36b, 4x4, 2x6) held fort and made sure that he took his team home. Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi made handy contributions as Afghanistan chased the target with seven wickets in hand and just 15.1 overs.
