SCORECARD

Bangladesh faces a tough task in their pursuit of the 513-run target set by India in the first Test match in Chittagong. At the end of day four, Bangladesh has reached 272-6, with Shakib Al Hasan on 40 and Mehidy Hasan on nine, still needing 241 runs to win. Earlier in the match, opener Zakir Hasan put up a strong fight with a century off 224 balls, and a 124-run partnership with Najmul Hossain in the final session of day three and through lunch on day four.

In the second session of play, India finally managed to break through Bangladesh's resistance with the wicket of Najmul Hossain, who was caught by Rishabh Pant off a deflection from a delivery by Umesh Yadav. Najmul's dismissal ended his partnership with Zakir Hasan, and he departed for 67. Axar Patel also contributed to India's efforts, taking the wickets of Yasir Ali and finishing the day with 3-50.

Kuldeep Yadav was able to remove the dangerous Liton Das for 19, but Zakir Hasan managed to bring up his debut Test century by sweeping Axar Patel for four. However, Zakir's celebrations were short-lived as he fell for 100 in the final session when a defensive shot off a delivery by Ravichandran Ashwin resulted in an inside edge that was caught by Kohli at slip. Zakir's century made him only the fourth Bangladeshi player to achieve the feat in Test cricket.
