The Paarl Royals successfully limited the Capitals to less than 160 with a strong finish, thanks to Bjorn Fortuin who took an early wicket in the first over. The Capitals recovered with a solid second-wicket partnership between Kusal Mendis and Theunis de Bruyn. After Mendis was out, de Bruyn shifted gears and scored quickly with big shots. He reached his half-century, giving the Capitals momentum. Near the end, Jimmy Neesham played a noteworthy cameo of 21 runs, helping the Capitals reach over 150.
The Paarl Royals' bowlers performed well, in the later stages of the innings. Bjorn Fortuin had an uncharacteristic off day, but Tabraiz Shamsi was effective with the ball. Lungi Ngidi was the standout bowler, particularly with his use of slower balls at the end of the innings. Ferisco Adams and Evan Jones were less successful and were hit hard by de Bruyn, who anchored the Pretoria side's innings.
Jos Buttler and veteran Dane Vilas took control of the game and formed a critical alliance to keep the Royals in the hunt for the win. The chase seemed to be going smoothly for the Royals as long as those two players were on the field, but Will Jacks delivered an exceptional over and took out Vilas and Buttler, which put the batting side under pressure again. David Miller, with his valuable experience, relied on his powerful batting skills to guide Paarl to victory.
The Pretoria bowlers were unable to capitalize on key moments and did not get the necessary wickets at the right time. Their premier fast bowlers Anrich Nortje and skipper Wayne Parnell were not very effective, it was only the spin bowlers who performed well. Rashid was extremely economical and Will Jacks proved to be a valuable change. However, the Pretoria bowlers failed to develop a proper plan against David Miller in the later stages of the game and did not use the slower balls as effectively as they should have.
Pretoria Capitals Fall of wickets: 1-5 (Will Jacks - 0.6 ov), 2-57 (Kusal Mendis - 7.2 ov), 3-85 (Rilee Rossouw - 10.5 ov), 4-91 (Shane Dadswell - 12.1 ov), 5-135 (Theunis de Bruyn - 17.1 ov), 6-145 (Eathan Bosch - 18.6 ov)
