ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023 in Zimbabwe - Squads, Fixtures and All you need to know
One of the most awaited competitions of the season, ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier is about to commence on the 18th of June, 2023.
The final match is slated to be played on the 9th July. Zimbabwe will host the event. Two top teams from the competition will qualify for the Cricket World Cup to be played in October this year.
There are 10 teams participating in the competition. All the teams have been divided into 2 groups of five teams each.
The Group A will feature the hosts Zimbabwe along with Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Oman and UAE.
West Indies, Ireland, Nepal, Scotland and the USA have been named in Group B.
A total of 34 matches, including the Final will be played during the tournament. Each side in will play the other side in their respective groups once the teams that end in top 3 at the end of the group matches will proceed to the Super Six stage.
The top two teams of the Super Six stage will feature against each other in the Final match. Both of the teams will go on to play in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.
The matches will be played at the Queen’s Sports Club and Bulawayo Athletic Club in Bulawayo as well as the Harare Sports Club and Takashinga Cricket Club in Harare. The Harare Sports Club is the venue for the final.
West Indies, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka have strong chances to make the cut, considering the form they are in. Nepal and UAE cannot be discounted out either and it will be an exciting contest of cricket.
