Mumbai Indians suffered its first loss in the Women's Premier League as they went down by five wickets at the hands of UP Warriorz at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Saturday.

Asked to bat, Mumbai was bowled out for 127 in 20 overs and in response UP chased down the target in
to finish on 129 for five in 19.3 overs.

Earlier, Mumbai lost two quick wickets quickly and were reduced to 39 for two in 7.3 overs. Hayley Matthews held the innings together with a 30 ball-35 with one boundary and three sixes. Then skipper Harmanpreet Kaur made 25 off 22 balls with three boundaries. Mumbai was reduced thereafter to 78 for five in 13.2 overs. Issy Wong then rallied the lower order. Wong made 32 off 19 balls with four boundaries and a six. Towards the end Mumbai was bowled out for 127 in 20 overs. For UP the best bowlers were Sophie Ecclestone (3-15), Rajeshwari Gayakwad (2-16) and Deepti Sharma (2-35).

In their response, UP lost their openers including their captain Alyssa Healy cheaply. The innings was reduced to 27 for three. Then a 44 run fourth wicket stand between Tahlia McGrath (38) and Grace Harris (39) revived the chase. Harris then teamed up with Sharma to carry the chase forward. With just 23 runs required for a win, Sharma then joined forces with Ecclestone. Towards the end UP chased down the score in the final over to finish on 129 for five in 19.3 overs. For Mumbai the best bowler was Amelia Kerr (2-22).
