Teams from seven of the world’s top women’s cricketing nations will be in Nelson Mandela Bay over the week from Sunday, February 12 to Monday, February 20, for the action-packed ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. A limited number of early bird R30 tickets is still available.

“Everything is ready for the five matches which will be played in the St George’s Park Cricket Stadium,” says Ms Leigh Deyzel, Event Project Manager of the Nelson Mandela Bay Local Organising Committee.

“The rain which has fallen after the successful hosting of the SA20 games has helped our grounds team to prepare another world class pitch and outfield.

“We will see T20 cricketing action at its best, and encourage the people of Nelson Mandela Bay to fill the stadium,” he says.

Tickets are still available for all of the matches.

There will be little love lost when the first match is played between Australia and Bangladesh from 19:00 on St Valentine’s Day.

Australia take to the field in the St George’s Park Cricket Stadium again on Thursday 16, when they meet Sri Lanka.

Cricket fans will get double value on Saturday, February 18, when England play India, followed by another tournament highlight where South African meets Australia. Play starts at three in the afternoon.

India meets Ireland from three on Monday afternoon, February 20 in the last of the St George’s Park Cricket Stadium matches.

“The starting times have been planned to allow aspiring young cricketers to be part of the action after school,” says Ms Deyzel.

Traffic flow will be eased by making Park Drive a one-way road in an anti-clockwise direction on match days.

During the week, the next generation of world class cricketers will have the opportunity to learn from the best.

Australia will host a coaching clinic on the Sunday, Sri Lanka on Tuesday, South Africa on Wednesday, and England on Thursday at venues around the metro.

The coaching sessions and practices are not open to the public.
