Women's Big Bash League 2023- Squads, Fixtures and All you need to know
The Women's Big Bash League is kicking off on the 19th of October with Sydney Sixers Women facing Melbourne Stars Women in the Inaugural game at the North Sydney Oval Ground. The Final of the T20 competition will be played on the 2nd of December, 2023.
Top Tournament Stats - Women's Big Bash League 2023
A total of 8 teams are participating in the competition namely, Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Thunder, Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers.
There are 56 matches scheduled to be played during the league including the Final match.
The league will be following a double round robin format. It will lead to teams playing 14 matches during the league stage. The two teams that stay at the top during the league stages will advance to the Final.
Defending Champions:
Adelaide Strikers Women- They won the 2022 edition of the Women's Big Bash League. They beat Sydney Sixers Women in the Finals to claim the title.
Players like Deandra Dottin and Tahlia McGrath performed superbly with the bat. Amanda Jade Wellington and Megan Schutt's impact with the ball was also monumental during the tournament.
Adelaide Strikers Women play well as a team and they will start as one of the favorites to win the tournament.
Runners up:
Sydney Sixers Women were runners up in the last year's Women's Big Bash League.
Alyssa Healy, Ashleigh Gardner and Elysse Perry made a calculated and definite impact on the fortunes of Sydney Sixers Women in the competition. Sophie Ecclestone contributed with the ball very well also.
They are a strong unit and if they start firing, they will be a force to reckon with in the WBBL.
