Western Australia have secured back-to-back Marsh Sheffield Shield crowns following a 9-wicket win over Victoria at the WACA Ground in Perth.
The win seals a second consecutive domestic double for the WA men’s team who have won the past two Marsh Sheffield Shield and Marsh One-Day Cup titles.
Ashton Turner was voted player of the match for his game-changing 128 (from 227 balls), the only triple-figure score of the final having gone to the wicket with his team at 4-53 on day two.
Joel Paris claimed five wickets for the match and made a valuable first-innings 31 in partnership with Turner, while Lance Morris produced figures of 3-53 and 1-69 in his first red-ball game in almost four months.
Western Australia is the first team since Victoria (2014-18) to lift the Shield in successive seasons, and the first WA outfit to claim consecutive crowns since the summers of 1997-98 and 1998-99.
