A dominant batting display set up the win for the Stars and it was their highest ever WBBL batting total. Rhys McKenna 52 (22) and Meg Lanning 58* (36) had a 104-run partnership - McKenna registered her first WBBL 50, which was also the 3rd fastest half-century in the history of the competition. The 20-year-old’s previous high score was just 14 runs.
Yastika Bhatia also impressed on both her birthday and Stars debut with 36 (28) including two sixes.
Then, Kim Garth took the important early wicket of Alyssa Healy in the second over to further swing the momentum towards the Stars. Tess Flintoff, Sophie Day and captain Annabel Sutherland also took a wicket each to have the Sixers 4-56 before rain stopped play after 8.3 overs.
