India won the toss and put Sri Lanka in to bat, openers taking full advantage of the opportunity, Kusal Mendis (52) smashing a half century.

His partner, Pathum Nissanka (33), added some crucial runs to get them off to a strong start piling the pressure on India.

Umran Malik (3/48) did what he could with the ball, stopping Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga before they could get going.

Dasun Shanaka (56*) added his own half century off just 22 balls, the fastest ever by a Sri Lankan, leaving the field on a good score of 206/6.

In response, Sri Lanka bowlers Dilshan Madushanka (2/39) and Kasun Rajitha (2/10) took control early.

India mustered some fight in the form of a Suryakumar Yadav (51) half century, Axar Patel (63*) later chipping in his own to give them a chance.

It was all for null though as India fell short, Sri Lanka winning by 16 runs.
