ICC Men's T20 World Cup, Match 12: Scotland get off the mark in style
Scotland defeated Namibia in the 12th game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 by five wickets at the Kensington Oval Bridgetown in Barbados. Opting to bat, Namibia posted a total of 155 for nine and, in response, Scotland chased the target with nine balls to spare.
Namibia didn’t have a great start to their innings as they lost JP Kotze for a duck. Niko Davin (20:12b, 4x4) played a vital hand for his team before skipper Gerald Erasmus (52:31b, 5x4, 2x6) slammed a crucial half-century and put his team in a strong position. Zane Green (28:27b, 1x4, 1x6) then made a handy contribution in the end as Namibia posted a total of 155 runs on the board. For Scotland, Brad Wheal picked three wickets.
In the chase, Scotland came under pressure at the start as they lost George Munsey, Michael Jones (26:20b, 3x4, 1x6), Brandon McMullen (19:17b, 2x4) and Matthew Cross early and found themselves at 73 for four. However, after that skipper Richie Berrington (47 not out:35b,2x4, 2x6) and Michael Leask (35:17b, 4x6) joined hands and added 74 for the fifth wicket. Based on their partnership, Scotland chased the target with five wickets in hand.
