West Indies kept their hopes of making the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 after they beat co-host United States of America (USA) by nine wickets at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday.

In a Super Eight Group 2 clash, USA after being asked to bat was bowled out for 128 and in response West Indies chased down the target in just 10.5 overs to finish on 130 for one.

Earlier, USA was well served by a 48 run second wicket stand between Andries Gous and Nitish Kumar. Then there was a steady fall of wickets and soon USA was reduced to 88 for six. Then a 24 run seventh wicket stand between Milind Kumar and Shadley van Schalkwyk revived the innings to an extent. In the end USA finished on 128 in 19.5 overs. For West Indies the best bowlers were Andre Russell (3-31), Roston Chase (3-19) and Alzarri Joseph (2-31). 

In the chase Johnson Charles and Shai Hope began in a hurry as they put on 67 for the first wicket. Hope remained unbaen on 82 off just 39 balls with four boundaries and eight sixes. None of the USA bowlers made any impact as West Indies chased down the target in just 10.5 overs to finish on 130 for one.
