SCORECARD

Points Table
Alex Hales (68) opened things off right for Sydney Thunder, and after he was well supported by Oliver Davies (42) - they looked in a good spot.

Even as the 2nd Innings began, Gurinder Sandhu (1/18) found an early wicket and everything was going Thunder's way.

Not for long though, as Matthew Short (65) and Chris Lynn (28) combined, for a match-winning partnership, to rally Adelaide Strikers.

Adam Hose (28*) took the lead, towards the close, to see them over the line as they stormed to a 6 wicket win.

Strikers Key Points

- Short smashed eight boundaries, including back-to-back maximums off Daniel Sams in the sixth over, in match-defining knock of 65 from 44 balls.

- He combined with Chris Lynn (28) in a crucial 83-run partnership to set the game up for Adelaide.

- The Strikers kept the required run-rate in check thereafter, as internationals Adam Hose (28*) and Colin de Grandhomme (12) chipped in late to bank a third consecutive victory with eight balls to spare.

- Leg-spinner Rashid Khan (1-25) was introduced early into the attack by the Strikers to slow the pace of the game, claiming Matthew Gilkes for 3.

- But it was Strikers all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme (2-27) who eventually claimed the important wickets of Hales and Oliver Davies (42) to wrestle momentum back Adelaide’s way following the power play.

- Paceman Henry Thornton continued his stunning start to the season, finishing with figures of 2-18 to retain his place at the top of the BBL|12 wicket-takers leaderboard and help hold the Thunder to an eventual total of 5-150.

- Adelaide struck six sixes during the match with $500 to be donated for each maximum by Principal Partner Pepperstone to Cancer Council SA as part of the ‘Hitting Cancer for Six’ initiative.

The Strikers will next head to Brisbane to confront the Heat on Friday, December 23 at the Gabba in what will be Chris Lynn’s first outing against his old side.
